Any time someone voices an opinion that they find homosexuality distasteful, disgusting, revolting, or whatever emotion their CHOICE lifestyle engenders. The person exercising his or her first ammendment rights is labeled a homophobe? Fear plays no part in it, it is moral outrage.

I never said anything about rounding up homosexuals and murdering them. I feel moral outrage about that sort of talk also. Am I not allowed to disagree with the movement afoot in this world that seeks to force everyone to blindly accept homsexuality. If I were to try to get everyone to accept by belief system blindly those of you who so zealously defend homosexuality would be the ones feeling moral outrage then. When you lose you double standard then speak to me of my moral shortcomings.

moral outrage is exactly the right choice of words! I feel disgust with myself when I fail to live up to the moral standard I ascribe to. People always, always, always have a choice in their actions be they moral or immoral

Don't you understand that people are not entitled to their own opinions anymore? We must be a society of conformists that accepts everyone as equals regardless of education, manners, morals etc... Our society wants us to "celebrate" our differences without acknowledging that any differences in fact exist. It is the paradox of modern society.

I read the question a couple of times. Personally I find the actual act of homosexuality distasteful myself. But then you go and put the word choice in capital letters, which indicates your limited viewpoint. Many people believe that homosexuality is not an easily arrived at "choice", but somehow deeper than that - Whether it's genetic or caused by early childhood experiences - or whatever.
When you label the way many folks live as disgusting, revolting, etc. what sort of response can you really expect?
Moral outrage is a bit dangerous to declare for oneself. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and all that.

Yea I think I know what you're talking about..I saw something on the news that there is a predominantly homosexual neighborhood in SF that has shops on it that display homosexual sexual images. (really perverse ones). Some heterosexual families (with children) moved into the area and asked the shop owners if they could remove the sexual images. The shop owners refused cause they said the neighborhood was a "gay" neighborhood before the "breeders" moved in so why should they have to change? I don't think it's right for someone to expose me and my family to homosexual sexual images, or any sexual images for that matter. I don't care if someone is a homosexual..because it's something they practice in the bedroom..and it's none of my business....but don't rub it in my face...A$$HOLE people come in all colors, shapes, sizes, and sexual preference. Not all gay people are as cool as the ones on 'Will & Grace'. In the 'real world' many are just jerks with a chip on their shoulders.

It's because these days voicing an opinion that is against homosexuality is not politically correct. People who think it's alright to be a homosexual try to force their viewpoint on people who don't, and labelling those people as homophobes is one way they do that.
Homophobe is an incorrect term. It implies a fear of homosexuals. Most people that I know that do not like homosexuals are not afraid of them, but rather they are disgusted by them.

It is a tactic of the gay/lesbian movement to silence critics and people who do not agree with their choice of lifestyle. In essence, calling you a homophobe is the gay equivalent of the "race card" used by blacks when someone says ANYTHING they think is an assault on them.
This kind of labeling is hyper-political correctness. No one can be told their ideas are wrong; any difference of opinion to that of the minority is considered "oppression".

Because freedom of speech DOES NOT encompass slander and insult, as much as some people like to think it does. And sometimes they can be extremely hurtful in what they say. I have seen questions several times about "why should fags be allowed to live," "why can't we just kill all the homos," etc. It's just flat out RUDE and if they can't say something nice, or at least say it somewhat tastefully, than they should be able to keep their opinions to themself and not throw it out all over the internet for the whole world to see.

Oh we cant offend anyone, but the moral majority can take it on the chin so that some liberal f**k can feel better about having helped something that they deem socially repressed.
Oh yeah and thanks for the best answer on the Oprah question.

i think everyones entitiled to their opinion, and their belief. I for one find it disgusting on every level. but people seek acceptance, and those who wont give it to them become their enemy. which isnt fair either. Iam not telling them they have to be straight, iam just saying i dont want to have to like it. i dont care what peope do. People smoke pot, but you dont see me busting down doors over it.
I have gay friends, they know where i stand, and they also know i dont judge them either. I just dont like it. Who cares what people think? isnt that what they say anyway?
