I found this for you, I hope it helps:

Paranormal Phenomena," offered at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pa. "This course examines the nature of phenomena that are believed by some to arise as a result of forces beyond the bounds of accepted science," explained Louis Manza, assistant professor of psychology. Critical thinking and skepticism of the paranormal, science and the media, spiritualism, ESP, astrology, psychics, UFOs and alien abductions, science versus religion, near-death experiences, pseudoscience and alternative medicine are all fodder for the course.

And these, too:

What you are asking about is parapsychology. According to the American Association for Parapsychology:

"As Parapsychology is a field beyond the authoritative scope of any one particular academic discipline, there are no residential University Degree Programs offered anywhere in the United States with a major in the subject. A degree in Philosophy, Natural and Social Sciences, Medicine, or any specialization in Psychology will be of assistance to anyone wishing to receive further specialized training and experience in preparing for a career in the field. There is no such things as "paranormal sciences". The very term is an oxymoron.

If something is scientific it can be supported by evidence and can be demonstrated objectively and readily replicated.

If something is paranormal it can NOT be supported by evidence and can NOT be demonstrated objectively and can NOT readily replicated.

The two terms "science" and "paranormal" are totally antithetical.

Concepts such as psychism, pixies and dragons can be and have been studied scientifically. Acceptance fo the existence of psychism, pixies and dragons OTOH is paranormal mumbo-jumbo and is the total antithesis of the scientific method and scientific reasoning.

If this child wishes to study pixies or spooks in a scientific manner she can simply study any appropriate branch of science such as physics or zoology and then study those subjects. If she wishes to study spooks and pixies as though there is evidence they exists then she can not be studying science.
