Well the benifit would be that you can split the work equally. Also you have others to depend on and you don't have as much work to do. Also you get to work with other peole as well as speak your mind about things.

Group Assignment's have benefits. They are geared more to very social people. Some benefits are not having to do all the work, especially if the assignment is rather large. If it involves presenting, doing it in a group generally makes it easier for people to present to the classroom. Besides that, I cannot think of much else. I personally dislike group assignments because I end up having to redo everything because I am a perfectionist, kind of. Also, if one person slacks off it is no longer distributed fairly and can effect everyones grade.

The benefits are many. Firstly, you learn to work in a group --which is largely what happens once you get out of school. You learn to listen to other people's ideas, and maybe they will spark new ideas for you, or other members of the group. You learn what is practical and what works, and what doesn't. Every person in the group will be able to bring something unique and different to the assignment, and every other person in the group has to learn to be open minded and accept ideas that may be novel and unique.

When you get out into the real world, most of the jobs are done as part of a team. If you have practice in working with groups, that will make you that much stronger of an employee.

Learning to work with other people. It is meant to similate the workspace so you learn to work with different people, personalities, beliefs, etc to reach a common goal.

You get to bounce ideas off other people and they might have ideas you wouldn't have come up with alone. Also, it usually lightens your workload.
