I want to tell you an interesting story that is very true.

My friend Fred is Blind and a victim of a birth defect that caused his skull to be deformed into a cone shape. To you he would look funny, or ugly.

When Fred was born some 65 years ago, his skull was already fused and his brain would be unable to grow inside properly. A new born has open sutures on the skull to allow for brain growth.

The doctors and parents were stunned. Then the doctors said he would die and he did not. Then the doctors said he would be retarded, but as the years passed, he was not. In fact, Fred over came insurmountable difficulties and got 2 college degrees.

With your solution, people like Fred would never have a chance.

I have met and associated with may people with disabilities and my life is richer because of it. They are limited in some ways, but have a great deal to teach us, if we are willing to learn.

By the way, if today you were in an accident that damaged your brain to the point you were "retarded," should we put you out of your misery?

I think that there is a very fine line here. They are certainly varying levels of stupidity. Some people are beyond helping...they will flat out never be able to do anything alone then no i think they are a huge waste of time and resources. Some retards (those that can manage themselves in most aspects) should be left alive. Wheelchaired people are okay too.

First of all you and I don't get to decide the answer to this. But my opinion is yes, of course, however idiots who ask questions like this I'm not so sure of.

Of course. Now, the real question here is should they be allowed to go on welfare.

That would be no.

You ask a lot of questions. They are allowed to exist... so they obviously should be allowed, otherwise no one would let them... right?
