There is clear evidence of hominid occupation in Egypt dating back to the late Pleistocene with tools similar to those found in East Africa.

Lower Paleolithic Acheulian stone tools typically associated with homo erectus have also been found in Egypt. Upper Paleolithic tools associated with late hominids leading up to the transition to modern homo sapiens have also been discovered in Egypt.

All evidence suggests that portions of the Nile valley area in Egypt and the Sudan have been occupied by hominids and/or humand from fairly early on with little or no disruption.

Population groups from further south and east in Africa as well as populations from southwestern Asia have moved into the Nile valley from early periods onward as well.
Classic ancient Egyptians, much like most modern Egyptians reflect a combination of various African populations as well as southwest Asian/Middle Eastern populations.

The ancient Egyptians themselves typically depicted themselves as either red-brown (for males) and a lighter brown/yellow (for women and some very old males) regardless of the realities of their actual appearance. In artwork they were very careful to distinguish their own skin tone, hair style, dress, and ornamentation from groups they considered to be "foreign" such as the Libyans - typically shown as yellow and wearing feathers in their hair; Nubians - black with tightly curled hair or headdresses; Asiatics - usually yellow, with fringed and colorful clothing and tunics, etc.

The ancient Egyptian example is a wonderful illustration of the subjectivity of "race" as a category. Race is, according to most anthropologists, a culturally defined/determined category rather than a genetically defined category and a single individual can be, and often is, categorized as a member of a different race depending upon who is doing the categorization, where they are, and with whom they are in contact.

I havent read the history book for long time, nor I have browsed the internet shortcuts kindly provided by answerers, but I do know that the ancient Egyptians who build the pyramids are nothing to do with the current North African and Muslim Egyptians.

The old civilisation disappeared as they surged, leaving no traces and that is why nobody knows how the pyramids were built. There only are speculations and theories but nothing definitely known.

PS the Romans are the only old civilisation that collapsed when their authority collapsed but the people carried on living as before.

The true Egyptians are the Sudians(Black Egyptians). The other Egyptians with blue and greens eye have ancestors that's from Europe. Cleopetra was from Europe not born in Egypt--not a true Egyptian.
