Yes it is possible for a recently graduated teacher to have all or part of his/her loan forgiven. You would have to work in an eligble school that serves families of low income. In order to receive the loan forgiveness you would have to work in this system for five consecutive years. This program is called, TLFP. TLFP means Teachers Loan Forgiveness Program. One must meet the requirements for the program inorder to get the loan forgiveness.

I don't think that any part of a student loan can be forgiven even if you declare bankruptcy according to the what I have read when applying for my loans. You should be able to find more information about these question on the FAFSA website.

if you have taken OSAP (if you are in ontario canada) and if you dont get a job immediately (within 6 months) after graduating, the government might waive the interest. but this varies from case to case. that depends on your family income as well.
if you are not from canada, you can check this with your loan officer.

Yes, if you live in the USA and are willing to work in hardship places - Indian resevations, inner cities, hinterlands. There are several programs. Ask your college placement office. They make their living knowing things like that.
