It was basically surreal, from what they were telling. Most of my search results got HBO's "Born Rich", but I'm almost certain she said it was called Silver Spoons. Moments of note: A teen slaps his mother after getting a tv that's too small. And a pre-teen skips the country to Jamaica(?) behind her parents back. Ring any bells?

The documentary was called silver spoon sorrows.It's by Jamie Johnson, the heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune.

Its an idiomatic expression. Born with silver spoon on their mouth means kids born rich and never in the line of their family and relatives thats not rich but all influencial. About you saying a teen slaps his mom after getting a small tv, well they arent rich! that teen is a brat! never had a silver spoon on his mouth.

I am not sure but Silver Spoons was a tv sitcom from the 80s so that might not be it.
