Ortiz, he has the protection of Manny tho, b/c he is batting 3rd and he sees better pitches. If the flipped it I would think Manny would be a much better hitter.

The last few years, Ortiz has proven to be a clutch hitter, but like the other posters have said, he does have Manny for protection. That being said, Manny is about one or two seasons away from being a 95% vote getter for Cooperstown. He is already a HOF player now, the only question is how many votes he will get for first time entrance. Manny may have a rep for being a little flaky, but I have news for you, you drive in 145 runs a year and you can be as flaky as you want to be, you will still be on my team.

You people are nuts. Manny is obviously better. Ortiz would not even be good if Manny Ramirez did not bat behind him. Ortiz would never get good pitches if he didn't have an all-time great batting behind him. Manny's stats are not as good with 2 less HRs and 16 less RBIs, but if Manny batted in Oritz's spot and had a stud behind him, he would be a no-doubt Hall of Famer because of the amazing hitting he would show because of the great pitches that would be shown to him. Thats why Manny is by far a greater player than David Oritz.

Ortiz has been playing really well lately but manny will play longer than ortiz and grow even better

Manny is one of the ten best right-handed hitters EVER. Ortiz is very good.
Manny is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. Ortiz will only get to the hall as a visitor.

manny is an all around player who is good on def. and off. while ortiz is a guy who can barely run and only has the ability to hit.
