That is the theme of Oedipus Rex, a play by (Sophocles, I think) in ancient Greece. Freud used the concept. But Oedipus did not WANT to kill his father and sleep with his mother; it was FORETOLD that he would and he failed to escape his destiny. Many people took Freud's idea out of context.
It is perfectly natural for a boy in a healthy family relationship (two parent, male-female) to base his relational skills and tastes on what he has seen and grown with. As the old song said, "I want a girl just like the girl that married dear old Dad." We look for what we are accustomed to.

yes, but no one believes it. At least i hope not.
It's known as the Oedipal Complex (based from Sophocles' Oedipus Rex trilogy) where the protagonist unknowingly kills his father and marries his mother as fate had told but he had no idea about it (unknowing because he was not raised by his surrogate parents; read the books for more info)
the term 'oedipal complex' was coined by Sigmund Freud, and it's supposed to relate to what is known as the "anal" stage of the life cycle (approx 3-6 yrs of age), where our id (our primal instincts) want us to commit these acts; it's the exact reverse for girls during this stage (kill the mother and sleep with the father). It's only because during our quest for understanding who we are, we look for things that satisfy us, such as love and sex, and the easiest way to get is from our parents (at this point in life). Freud believed that our first 'lust' is towards the parent of the opposite sex, and henceforth the term.
but there was no evidence to support that theory and later psychologists (ie. Vygotsky, Piaget, etc) have made better theories that have completely discarded the O.C. and Freud's stages in life (which he based off of sex) entirely.
