For a pet, no its not stupid. But the term Boo Boo implies a mistake. You might give a child the wrong idea.

One of the nicest, muscular, and popular guys I knew in college was called Boo Boo. We didn't think anything bad about his name.

Let's put it this way...when I was seven I had a DOG that we nicknamed "Boo boo". So, if it's for an animal, it's kinda cute.
