The MPAA has NC-17 but not X.
The original movie ratings (in use 1968–1970) consisted of an "X" rating for movies. It meant persons under 16 not admitted (although the age limit may have varied in certain areas). However, this rating was officially changed to an NC-17 rating instead, meaning no one under 17 can be admitted.
An X rated film these days is just sort of slang that refers to hardcore content of an adult film or porno flick, but it's not an actual rating.

The "x" rating no longer applies to motion pictures. Anything beyond NC-17 is considerd to be adult material and not for minors.

No, X-rated isn't a real rating, but NC-17 is.
