To answer your question: It's because we all want our way.

I think we like to argue because we sometimes think it will get us our way with others.

Your statement about all the BS being slung in DC is correct. You are also correct in wishing everyone could learn to agree to disagree. All of the disagreements should be settled with courtesy and respect to both parties and sealed with a cold beer in a beer joint listening to good country music. If that won't work, may I suggest you become more active in your local politics. Start there and maybe you can make a difference. It will be impossible to make a difference nationally until we clean up local politics and then we can progress to Congress where we can enact term limits and get rid of the professional politicians of both parties. I absolutely love to listen to our congressmen, senators and representatives alike, espound on what the framers of our constitution intended. One item they do not address is that the framers never intended for politics to be a full time job. They were mostly farmers and planters whom, without pay, took time from their work to do real public service. The only service our public servants do now is to assault police, keep money in their freezer and who knows what else. One thing for sure, we need change and the only way to get change is to throw them out in the street. Check the voting record of your own representative and or senator. How many times did he even show up to vote on critical legislation, oh hell any legislation. If you missed work as much at they did you would get fired from your job. So should they. If you told as many lies on a job application as they did during their campaigns you would be fired. Lets get out the vote and fire them. We need to take back our government. Everyone damn one of them runs on two things: (1) going to improve education. (2) going to lower taxes. I won't even address the BS thrown around about health care or the war in Iraq. But just listen to the news for 10min and three of the four issues will be addressed by them. Lord knows it is time for the electioneeing to begin and I just hope the Lucy reruns are not completely worn out. They are more beleiveable than the politicians. May I suggest that in the coming elections, we vote for any candidate that has never held an office. The ones with "experience", both parties, ain't doing very good.

Here are the real issues.

WASHINGTON - If they retake control of Congress, Democrats will act quickly to increase the minimum wage, lower prescription drug costs and slash interest rates on student loans, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said Saturday.

The ideas are part of the Democrats' new domestic agenda, named "New Direction for America," which the party rolled out during the past week. Pelosi, D-Calif., used the party's Saturday radio address to promote the plan.

"A new direction means expanding access to affordable health care for Americans. We will begin by lowering the cost of prescription drugs by putting seniors ahead of pharmaceutical companies and HMOs," Pelosi said.

"A new direction means broadening opportunity by addressing the soaring costs of higher education. We will begin by making tuition tax-deductible and cutting the interest rates of student loans in half."

Pelosi also pledged to improve security, reduce dependence on foreign oil, maintain Social Security and oppose deficit spending. Under the plan the minimum wage would rise from $5.15 to $7.25 over two years, the interest rate on student loans would be cut to 3.4 percent and Democrats would approve a "pay as you go" budgeting rule.

Most of the ideas have been part of Democratic talking points for months but, facing criticism that they lack a cohesive message, the party is regrouping them as a platform to run on in November's midterm elections. Democrats hope to regain control of the House and Senate, which would take a gain of 15 seats in the House and six in the Senate.

On Iraq, Pelosi said: "2006 must be a year of significant transition. It is time for a new direction in Iraq."

She didn't mention that there's significant disagreement among Democrats on when to begin withdrawing troops.

Pelosi's position on the Iraq timetable — "at the earliest practicable time, the United States must begin the responsible redeployment of its troops," she said — is not shared by everyone in the Democratic caucus.

Why can't we all get along?

One, we believe strongly that what we have been told, taught, and learned through isolated experiances are true, And as such we have a very difficult time excepting the fact, despite our knowledge and experiance, we may still be wrong.

Two, We have been brought up to be intolerant .
Be true unto yourself. Sound familiar?

Just read the answers, The liberals are full of hate and negativity. They call names, blame others and make unfounded accusations.

On the other hand............

Just read the answers to charged questions, you'll see who is causing the dissension in America, and then blaming the "cons" for it.

You ask why we can't get along right after you asked a question that was a pure spiteful question toward "answerman"?

I guess that's just Republican logic... pay attention to what I'm saying now, not what I just did?
