I tried to download a freeware program which should have taken 30 seconds; the catch was I had to "complete this short survey" (ad offers, really) before it would start the download. SEVEN MINUTES LATER I was informed the download was starting! Next page was a "make Google your home page" ad, and there was no way to leave it without getting stuck with the bar! Help - PLEEEEZE!!!

Well, you have a couple options. You can merely right-click it and uncheck it which will make it go away... but still be on your PC... you can go to add/remove programs and delete it... You may also download a program, like HijackThis that can show those things and you can choose what to remove. However, I cannot tell you this w/o warning that there may be things you want to keep so don't remove everything, just the one that say Google toolbar... it takes a little experience, but you'll get it... If you d/led adware or spyware, you should get spybot and adaware too...

It's possible you can go into your control panel and add/remove programs, and remove it. If you have Mozilla Firefox, you would go to Tools - Extensions in the upper menu of the browser. If none of this works and you are just sick of looking at it, you can hide it by right clicking on the toolbar, and then unchecking "google toolbar". I would reccomend being very careful about dowloading freeware, especially when they ask you to complete offers. I would run an adware/spyware scan with a free downloadable program such as Adware SE or Spybot Search & Destroy.

For now, you can go View>Toolbars> Then click on google toolbar to disable it.

Then go to your Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>click google toolbar>remove.

Good Luck.
