In all honesty, who are you, or who should you be closest too, your mother, or your husband? We are not including children, because I feel like all women should be closest to their children.

A woman before marriage should be close to her mother or father, or both, once she is married, it should be her husband. and the kids that they have are part of their family, the man and wife should both be close to their children. She should also be close to her parents, but not like her closeness to her husband.

Very difficult question!!! I believe I am closer to my husband in the sense that I have told him secrets from my closet that I could never tell my mum, I have shared all my inner feelings good and bad and therefore (at least since we married) he knows me much better than my mum does. He is my soul mate, and I chose him above all men for a life of love, friendship and companionship. But this does not mean I do not love my mum or that I am distant to her. My love for my mother is on another level, and she will always be extra, extra special to me for eternity. She will always be there for me and I her through thick and thin. But she cannot fill the need that I have for my husband, and there are many things I cannot (would not) share with her that I can easily do so with my hubby. Gosh, I will be thinking about this one for a few days now!

I think that your mother shares a special bond with you (like a woman will with her own children), but you choose a husband. You make a life with a husband. I don't think you need to love either of them less, but I would probably feel like I should be closer to a husband.

Your husband.
That's not to say, don't be close to your mother. You have to be! She gave you life. She was there for you through everything! She shouldn't be ignored completely after marriage.
Its just that you have found a husband and from that day, you live wih him. He shares each day with you. He fathers your children, helping you raise them. He provides many things for the family not limited to money (which we provide too) that only a father can provide well. He deserves to know what you are going through etc.
And he and you share a special bond: A-family-created bond.
In that context, you have to be close to your husband.

Neither one.
Your mother tells how you are when you were growing up cos they curse you to wish your kids turn out just like you.
Never get too close to a man.
A man especially if you marry him cos he thinks he can get away with alot of stuff. Reason being, you are suppose to trust him, he is your husband.
The only one to get close to is G-O-D.
It really depends whether or not you have a good relationship with your mom and/or your husband and including if they are close to God as well.

In the Bible it says you are to be "one" with your husband that means Mother, Father, and anyone else is to not come between you and your Husband period...your husband is suppose to come before your children.........but in this crazy chaotic world most people do not live by the book!
(and we suffer dearly for it)

depends on the people and the relationships. Your mother should not be a crutch when things go bad w/ your husband and vies versa... communicating with the other party is the best way to keep a relationship good.
It not about who is it better to be close to it's about how comfortable you are in your relationships with these people.

closer to my husband because I can talk to him easier and feel he does not judge me like my Mom does. I agree women should be closer to the children.

I think you should put your children before your husband, I know you should certainly PROTECT them from him when he is abusive to them!! Many women don't do that and their children and our society suffer dearly for it.
Anyway, I think your husband before your mother.
