I would do a system recovery, and then perform some maintenance on your computer, such as 1. run an anti-virus check 2. run (1 or 2) adware/spyware removal programs. (if you don't have any, I reccomend you download AdAware SE and/or Spybot Search & Destroy. 3. Also, make sure your firewall is working properly. That will protect it from any future problems. MAIN THING: Take very good care of your computer by performing scans on it frequently. Also, deleting cookies and temporary internet files. But yes, Do a system recovery, and hopefully that fixes the problem.

Depending on the age of the computer and what you are running when it shuts down it is very likely that your computer is just over heating.
You might need to clean the dust off of the CPU heat sink.
Run a virus check and a spyware check.

Don't do system recovery just yet. You can risk losing all the information on your computer. Invest in a anti-virus, it will cost about 40 but it is well worth it.

It may very well have a virus. If you can log on at all try going to System Restore and restore to a date previous to when the trouble started. At that point you can do a serious scan for viruses and spyware.

Mine has been doing the same thing. Finally found out that the CPU was running at too hot a temperature and had to shut down to cool off.
Unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to fix it yet.

You probably have a virus.
I recommend saving all the files you don't want on CDs and reinstalling windows
Warning: this will delete all of your programs and files in your hard drive

another option is to buy a virus scan program i recomend McAfee. it will find the file affected by the virus(if you have a virus) then you have the option to delete the file. norton anti virus scan sucks in my opinion it does not work that well...
