Actually they are all not correct. You asked where is Porsche from?? Ferdinand Porsche Senior is actually from Austria and the original factory (shed) is still there in its original location and is now a muzeum. They moved production to Stuttgart West Germany. They are made now in Stuttgart Germany and the Cayenne is made outside of Germany. Hope this helps.

Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was commissioned by Adolf Hitler to create the "Volkswagen," or "People's Car," in the 1930's. This turned out to be a gigantic scam, although at first the German Government intended to keep its promise. The idea was that people would subscribe, in advance, to buy a small and efficient, quality automobile built under government sponsorship. Thousands of eager buyers lined up. Unfortunately about the time the "Volkswagen" was due to become available to those advance buyers, there was a war.

What after WWII became the famous "Beetle" became instead the German equivalent of the Jeep - a car called the "Kubelwagen." Allied soldiers liked this vehicle a LOT and often used captured models for their own needs. Later there was an imitation version of this vehicle, called in the US "The Thing," or in German "Das Ding," that was a costly flop.

Dr. Porsche went on to design a very successful early sports model of his "Volkswagen" using the same air-cooled engine. It was the beginning of something wonderrrr-fulllll ....

Porsche are an independent company not a division of Volkswagen, although both are linked through the years by failed or shared projects, e.g. Porsche 924 and the Cayenne/Touareg/Q7 off roaders.
