I personally thought that this would be a website for teens not adults.

Does it make sense to you to have teens (who need answers) asking other teens (of whom very few know the REAL answers) about important and sometimes very very serious issues? That is why it is good that adults also use Yahoo answer. And it is good to have people of all ages and experience sharing with each other and asking/answering questions. If you feel that this is a teen site, i beleive you are mistaken.

Teens have a lot of forum to post theirs question.Yahoo answer is not meant for teens only.
This question can be answered by a question "Will you still use internet(yahoo answers) after you are thirty?".
Beside this is not a chat, in a chat you can use a filter to block older people. Have you noticed that the research your source included Wikipedia. this is because the massive usage of this site in a lot of the answer so Yahoo answer just add a link to it.
In my own opinion, Yahoo answer have gathered a lot of valuable data the they can use to generate contents and promote site traffic. This a "win-win" situation where the user can learn something and Yahoo gets more traffic to its sites.
Beside you need knowledge input from adults too sometimes. :)

Why would teens know the answers to some of these hard technical computer questions? You would think an experienced adult would be more helpful?

WELL BECAUSE TEEN IN HERE ARE ASKING FOR EXPERIENCES SO .. SINCE AN ADULT HAD HIS/HER THING DONE IN THE PAST HE/SHE SHARES IT W/ TEENS .. KIDS / TEENS DON'T COME TO THEIR PARENTS FOR ADVICES. THEY TURN ELSEWHERE. THAT'S Y PARENTS NEVER KNOW WHAT THEIR KIDS THINK. WOULD A TEEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF SHE GOT PREGNANT??? NOOOO .. GO READ THOSE QUESTIONS.. LIKE OH MAH GOSH.. WHAT CAN I DO.. I'M PREGNANT..

NO. It is for adults, not young teens. There is adult material here that is not for kids.

teens haven't a deep coulture. Here in Italy we use YahooAnswers like a virtual lawyer/bigger brother/ cook, etc. etc.

this is just a place in general for people to get answer,s to question,s they can,t answer them self,or maybe they just waNT a different opinion,either way,it would be kind of boring,if it was all the same age group,would,nt it,?.
