You should call and politely introduce yourself. Just remember to be extremely respectful; perhaps you could say, "Good Evening, Mrs. so-and-so, this is Danielle. I have been dating your son for a while. How are you doing?"
Wait for her to respond, and elaborate on what she says. If she only says "OK" or something like that, you could say, "What have you been up to lately? Anything interesting?" After she makes some small talk, then you can ask about your boyfriend. You could say, "If it is alright with you, I'd like to ask how Jim (or whatever your boyfriend's name is) is doing. Have you heard from him in a while?"
Just keep the conversation light and polite, and hopefully she will too. Good luck, Danielle.

I don't know why you are so attached to a boy who is in Juvenile detention. He obviously has some problems, and you would do better to not be tangled up in a relationship with him. It will only end up in heartache and trouble for you.

If you really want to find out how he is, just call his mom and telll her who you are and you were wondering how he is doing. If she is a kind woman and a good Mom she will be glad to tell you how he is doing, and be glad of any support or encouragemant you can offer.

Try not to be so needy and think really hard about whether this relationship is good for you. At your age you don't need to be so tangled up in relationships, there is plenty of time for that when you get older.
