Do: If you are wearing true red lipstick then your eyes should be subtle. You don't want to over power your face. Use a light shade brown eye liner (best if you use a powder liner, simply take a light brown eyeshadow and use a liner brush) to line your lids then choose a combination of shadows...use a light color from tan-a pale lavender (depending on your skin tone and preference) on the lower lid, between the crease of your lid apply a medium brown and use a neutral color on your upper lids below the brow. If you chose you can add a light lemony color to the line of your brow before you add your shadow to define your brows. After all is applied blend together lightly using a blending or a blush brush.
Add a few coats of mascara!
and voila , you are beautiful!
No cheek color is needed.
Dont: use dark eye liner! It will fade out your face and no one will notice your gorgeous red lips!

FAB question!!! there are two keys to pulling off red lipstick. the first is to find the right shade for you, whether it has more cool undertones or warm undertones. the second is to down-play the eye makeup, because dramatic eyes AND lips can equal clown makeup. the classic hollywood look is best done with a pale gold or shimmery ivory shadow all over the lid, blackest black eyeliner and mascara on top and just a light sweep of mascara on the bottom (no liner there), a neutral blush, and your personal shade of red lipstick. (don't forget the red nails!!). for some good example pics, try googling Madonna's Dick Tracy movie photos or some pics of Marilyn Monroe and/or Gwen Steffani. Good luck!

First of all, I wouldn't wear red lipstick because it tends to get all over the place. Instead, use a red lip liner and fill in your lips, then use a gloss, so it looks like lipstick. It will stay in place all day and look better too. Then, if you're going to be out in the day, use a little mascara, and a bit of powder. If you're wearing it to a night party, then do very smokey eyes by lining your eyes with black kohl (it's like eyeliner, but softer, so it smudges better) and use your finger to apply a dark brown, dark gray, or black eye shadow. Use tons of mascara, and you're good to go.

With red lipstick, a coat of mascara on your eyelashes is enough. Soft eyeliner if you must. In other words, minimal make up everywhere else on your face. Red is strong and can be too much when you have a lot of make up on. Also, applying red lipstick and softening it by smudging it with your finger is a new way to wear it. You get a softer look.

You need to find your skin type - are you a warm or cool tone. After finding that out you can choose the reds that will look appropriate on you.
The trick is never to have a matching eye color to the lip color while maintain the dark light/light dark rule.
If you have a light eyeshadow, then you can wear a darker or more pigmented lipstick/gloss.
If you have a dark eye shadow then you can wear a lighter or softer pigmented lipstick/gloss.
And never wear as similar color in lipsticks and eye shadows.

when using a dramatic lip colour like red it's best to keep your eye makeup subtle. be sure to find the right red colour for your skin tone. if you have warm undertones go for a red with an orange base, if your skin tone is cool try a blue-red (not actually blue, your cosmetics salesperson can show you). you'll have to try a lot of lipsticks before you find the right shade. I find most of them appear either pink or orange once applied. I just bought a great one by lise watier. the best way to get old hollywood glamour is to get a bunch of pics of hollywood girls like rita hayworth, marilyn, etc. and try to copy the look. just keep practicing and remember these girls had professionals to make them look like that.

If you are going to wear red lipstick, minimize everything else. Go with mascara, and eyeliner, don't do eyeshadow and if you do use natural colors. Or go with really smokey eyes. But the red is enough. Look at Gwen Stephani, she always wears red lipstick and not much else.

When wearing red lipstick the rest of your makeup should be neutrals. There are many shades of red with different bases. If you are cool toned you need pink base if your are olive you will need warm tones more burnished and maybe a little orange. Get a skin analysis to find out what tones you need. Go to www. Arbonne.com and find a consultant in your area. They will advise you for free.

old school hollywood glamour is really easy to do. eithers its easy or over the top. check out pics of marilyn monroe and gwen stefani, two women that pull off red lipstick great. basically its like this. red lipstick. thick black eye lashes, nice liquid black eyeliner and pale skin. also if you wanna be bold do the "smokey" eye effect.
