First the installer crashes all the time. So I reinstalled the OS. The problem persisted. I bought a new hardrive and installed the OS..the problem persisted. I bought a new OS and wrote that to the formated hardrive... The problem persisted. I changed which slot the RAM was in and its all better... Please can anyone help me understand this?

That is strange... I never heard of that happening. Actually, you just can't plug RAM, usually there particular configurations for installing RAM depending on how much memory you have (consult users manual). I not sure if was the problem. Faulty, RAM sticks and slots can cause freqent crashes. They are ways to get it tested.

The ram SHOULD be installed in the slot closest to the processor. There is a possibility that the ram was not installed properly, or was just seated funny in the slot. The slot could be going bad. These things do happen. You should try to install another piece of Ram and look at your BIOS, or your System Profile to see if it is picking it up. If the slot is bad, it may not be long before the other peripherals on the MOBO go, as well. Best of luck to you.

Under shortage of your phisical information of com, I think that your MOBO might have trouble, maybe RAM slot,because You have changed HDD and new OS.
