It is like trying to answer the question about director Bob Clark. He directs Porkys in 1981, then a few years later does A Christmas Story. Figure that one out.

Tim Burton enjoys making movies about bachlors. Some examples are Edward Sccisorhands, Batman (1990), the corpse bride, and of course charlie and the chocolate factory

I read somewhere Roald Dahl (author) didn't enjoy the 1971 movie. The book was a lot darker than the movie. Maybe he would have approved of Tim Burton's version.
