A thought I always ponder, not necessarily ' the meaning', but the destiny or the plan...

Maybe we were a plan of the universe from the moment of its' creation in order to thwart its' inevitable demise billions of years from now. The universe 'knew' it was going to create conditions likely for intelligent life to form in hopes that one day that life created would come to grips with the workings of universe and space to the point that it wolud figure out a way for it to exist forever.

Therefore the meaning of an individuals life is to add to the progression of society in anyway. In other words, do what you like to do that contributes. It could be something as trivial as smiling at everyone you meet.

The meaning of life is to be happy and to become like God.

Our loving Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother created your spirit body from an intelligence. Our Heavenly Father (God) created a plan of Salvation (a.k.a. the plan of hapiness) for all of His spirit children so that as many as were willing to follow the plan could become like our heavenly parents. However, we first needed to recieve a physical body, be tested, and learn to make correct and unselfish decisions. Our character needed to grow and be tested in order to be justly assigned to the society we properly belong to. (Imagine if all unethical people were not allowed in our society. Then it would be easy for us to live in joy and harmony.)

Those who obey because of their love towards God and Jesus are those who can become like God and live with him. Those who do not, have to suffer in hell for a time (only in order to help them learn their lesson long enough to change their attitudes and behaviour). Only then are they assigned to more mediocre societies where people aren't as ethical. However, at least these societies are better than the current Earth where we currently live.

This plan of happiness is based upon the creation, the fall of Adam, and the Atonement of our Saviour Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is our Saviour, he loves us, and suffered for our sins. Turn to him.
