Americans can't play football. They're made of wood.

Well to hold the number one team to not scoring while being down one player for almost the entire second half says something in itself. Although, if you want to say that America isn't that good at soccer then look at it like this... Americans normally don't play soccer... We are fairly new to it... But we are doing very well as I saw today.... And as a matter of fact if it wasn't for an ofsides call America would have won this match with Italy (just in case you haven't relized is the best in the world standings as a soccer team.) So I would say that to be a man down for over 30 minites and hold them off is a fantastic show of skill and you shouldn't be so close minded to the talent and leadership of the American Coaching.

The reason is Joga Bonito, which means play beautiful. American soccer players are coached to early in their lives and instead during this time they should be allowed to experiment and find what works and what doesn't. After they are 13 or 14 is when they should learn stratigies, that way everything seems more fluid to them instead visualizing a play on a draw board. The coach is not that good either but not terrible. He should have used the last substitue today.

There are a lot of talented players on the U.S. side: Landon Donovan is a frickin' stud. But DaMarcus Beasley has been a waste of space these last two games.
I don't think all of this can be placed on the coach: his 4-1-4-1 gameplan seemed to work well enough to keep the U.S. in the game with Italy for 90 minutes. But some of the players are seriously lolly-gagging out there & need to be taken off the field until they are ready to care about winning.

I blame the coach right now, too. Our lineup is never right. Dempsey was a good addition but Eddie Johnson was our best play vs. the Czech Republic and he didn't play at all in this game.
We shouldn't throw in the towel but I want our two best performers so far to play together. Eddie Johnson, Clint Dempsey should both be on the field.

My American team tied one of the best teams in the world today, and we should throw in the towel? Give me a break. America does not give up,
If Italy is so good how come they only scored one goal? America played their hearts out, and just wanted to win more than Italy, America is ranked 5th in the world!

Okay well first off all you people said Italy was going to blow USA out of the water.......HAHAHAA you were WRONG! Don't go and start mouthing off about how Ghana is going to beat up USA because frankly I'm not listening anymore. I think all you people are just looking for a reason to knock USA down. They played against Italy and stuck with them, I give them applause for that. Plus Italy scored on themselves, that's pretty rich :).

Today i saw a guy wearing a t-shirt with "football, not soccer" written on it. If you can understand this phrase, you probably already know whats wrong with the US "soccer" team

US played good today, our problem is our coach....taking dempsey and convey out? mistake...not putting johnson in.....another mistake.....PUTTING beasley in....idiotic.
we're a good team, gotta remember we havent been playing soccer as long as the rest of the world....with the right players on the field in the right positions (beasley should have been taken out in the Czech game....esp. being on the right wing instead of left) we can compete with any team you wanna throw at us. That is if we try...they just curled up and died on the field vs. Czech........ so embarassing i thought about changing my citizenship.....

I totally agree with your predictions. I believe the reasons are their lack of discipline, and their lack of finishing abilities. Although they made some great individual plays during today's game, the Italian GK Buffon barely had to do anything.....
