As the mommy of four I can tell you that if she's getting up on her hands and knees at 51/2 months that's great. Don't be surprised if she doesn't crawl til 7-8 months, that's the norm. From crawling, she'll probably go to that GI Joe crawl across the floor pretty soon. Don't stress. She sounds totally normal.

Ever baby is different. Some crawl at 6 months some at 8 or 10 months...Ive even known some babies that skip crawling all together. I will happen when the child is ready.

I wouldn't worry about it my oldest didn't crawl until he was 1 year old and I made him learn... He then didn't walk until he was 18 months old. I had him evaluated at 1 year because he wasn't mobile. They came to the conclusion that he was more into verbal communication than he was to crawling or walking. at 1 year old he had a vocabulary of 25 words. And they told me that the doctors don't count crawling as a milestone. It is from rolling around to walking. ( I was so surprised )

My 2nd child was completely different. He was crawling at 8 months old and has a vocabulary of DaDaDa.

She is just fine.

Your daughter is perfectly normal. She'll be on her hands and knees in no time! And 5 1/2 months is definitely young to be crawling. She's doing great!

My daughter is 10months old. She still rolls to get to where she is going. She is just now starting the army man crawl. My oldest daughter did not crawl until a week before her first birthday. She was also a very chubby baby. I was told never to compare your children to what others are doing. Your daughter will develop in her own way, in her own time. Have fun!

It's totally ok for 5 1/2 months to not be crawling, and to be rolling instead. My daughter was an early crawler, and she didn't crawl until 7 months.

They figure out their own rhythym. She's doing fine :)

Yes this very normal. My 3 children didn't start crawling until 7-8 months of age. They all started walking within a couple weeks of their 1st birthdays. Your daughter may start walking before that if she is already starting to crawl. I myself would think she was advanced for her age!!

My first daughter, now 6,never crawled. She rolled until she started walking. She was perfectly fine and is very smart today. Don*t worry if she never crawls. All babies are different. I now have an 8 month old and she does the army crawl. Don*t worry so much!

She is perfectly fine, my daughter didn´t crawl until she was about 8 months, the important thing is that she rolls or creeps if she wants to move from one place to another and I read that she does that, she'll come aroung and if she doesn´t is also ok, my mom saids that I didn´t crawl at all I went straight to the walking stuff!!

Don't panic...she will crawl. My daughter would lay on her back and kick her feet and travel around that way. She wore a bald spot on the back of her head. She did learn to crawl, and walked at 13 months. My son crawled right away and walked at 10 months. It is better if they take a little longer to learn to get around....believe me!
