That is a scary thought, just one wrong person or even one wrong move and the world could be thrown into a parallel time or alternate universe, but would someone with a time machine be able to fix what went wrong. Then I think of what good even I could or what I would want to go back and "fix" warn myself or loved ones of mistakes, prevent some deaths, but I know that this is not my place and I would not want to "play" God, Greed would probably play into it and I would want to play the lottery or something equally greedy. Great Question!!! Thanks for getting me to think about this.

As far as the public knows, there are no projects in progress to build a time machine. However, a quasi-time machine is theoretically possible. Einstein's relativity has shown and numerous experiments have proven that the velocity of some object, like a rocket ship, effects the rate of time relative to a stationary location. It's possible to rocket away from Earth at such a high velocity that after returning home the travelers would find that they've gone ahead into Earth's future.

There's research going on related TO time travel, but, I don't think anyone's currently trying to build a machine for that specific purpose.

Not that I'm aware of. Maybe experiments with quantam mechanics will eventually shoe promise. But probably not the type of machine that we would think of as a time machine.
