Is it horsepower, torque, or something else like rpm?

Basically as any motor, be it gas deisel or electric.
To acheive its BHP 'brake horse power; rating - it is subjected to tests for example like - putting it under different loads with known weight. Like a dynometer test
In combination torque, hp, and rpm play a major role to find its most effiecent power band. Therefore it takes X amount of horse power to raise, lift or move the known test weight/load. Which equals Horse Power.

The size of the windings and the number of the pole pairs dictate the horsepower of an electric motor. The number of pole pairs also dictates the motor speed.

An electric motors strength is defined in amperes. Make sure your breaker box can run an electric motor with the amount of amps the motor pulls.
