I prefer adulthood and never feel a desire to return to childhood, but there are a few things I miss.
I miss not having to work for a living. I miss not having bills and student loans to pay. I miss all the free time I had in the summers and from not doing my homework. I miss going to a class on the first day of school knowing that I had already read the textbook from when my brother had the same class two years earlier. I miss winning first-place trophies in math competitions without having to make much effort. I miss being able to remember most of the events that had occurred in my life. I miss the feeling of equality that most kids had, at least before middle school. I miss having a computer that I actually knew how to program, even if it had "only" 64K of RAM. Perhaps above all else, I miss being able to imagine any future that I wanted, from becoming President of the United States to hitting the home run that wins the World Series to having children. Now I know which of those dreams will never come true, even though some of them have.
Childhood wasn't all good, but it did have its advantages.

I truly miss my summer years in between the ages of 8-13. Magical times. Endlessly long days full of fun. Whether I was at camp, riding my bike with my friends, reading comics on the lawn, chasing after the ice cream man, trying to kiss the girl next door, drive-in movies, staying up until I saw the crack of Dawn (the girl next door) or any of a hundred things...the world was fresh and new and so very much ALIVE.

The naivity of thinking that being an adult was where it was at.. I just couldn't wait to grow up, pay my own bills and have my own house, car and STUFF!! Now, I realize how hard my folks struggled to provide and wish I'd been a better child!!

Being able to be silly and be myself, and act totally random, and everyone thought I was cute, not crazy. I could do pretty much anything and people thought it was cute. Now, if I carried stuffed animals around, I'd get some strange looks. I can't play anymore because everyone thinks we're too old. I need to find some fellow actors...improv is as close to playing as I'll be able to get anymore.

Summer vacation!!! Swimming, playing with the waterhose in the front yard, playing baseball with the neighbor kids, roller skating, MY BIKE, hide and seek, playing football with the neighbor kids, ice cream (my dad had an ice cream truck, we never wanted for ice cream), etc.
I loved the summer, but was SO HAPPY to go to school again. I loved school.

I used to miss being taken care of by my parents, but now I don't. I grew away from that and now I love looking forward of taking care of myself.

I miss not being held responsible when I crap my pants in public. I miss having summers off, too.

Actually being able to throw a tantrum when/if I didn't get my own way AND getting away with it (well...most times I did anyway).
