is tioga pass open in yosemite natl park?

i ask because im traveling from fresno california to ely nevada and mapquest said it was the shortest route. i want to go that way but i dont know if ican drive through tioga pass, plese help me

I don't know if Tioga Pass is open, but I read in the paper on Sunday (Reno Gazette-Journal) that Highway 140 is closed due to a rockslide.

While Tioga may be the "shortest route" from Fresno to Ely, it may not necessarily be the fastest because of the high volumes of traffic Yosemite experiences in the summer. If you want an easier driving route, maybe consider going to Sac and taking Highway 50 across? Have you considered one of the other passes instead (Sonora/Monitor)?

I live in Berkeley, CA and i really dont know if you can or cant drive through there. I have had pretty bad experiences with MapQuest in the past, so I honestly suggest using either Google Maps or Yahoo Maps. I think Google is the best one. Good luck!
