I have asked lots of different people, and they all have different answers. Who should I trust? And if you think you know, what would the answer be? I know 9/11 happened, then all of a sudden, Suddam came into the picture and now we're in Iraq. It's hard to know who to ask, because they could be making up crap. So what is the deal?

You have to decide for yourself who to trust and what to belive. I can tell you that you are right, there are a lot of lies on both sides of the arguement.

Let me say this: Right now there is no way to go stop terroists from attacking. We are only able to try and cut them off from thier resources... mainly Money and Recruits.

So when we find out that the leader of some country is paying the families of suicide bombers, like Saddam was in Iraq, we have a target. In being there we discovered that many people from other countries in the area took up arms to attack us... individually.

No matter what George Bush says (lies), or what CNN says (lies) one thing is true without a doubt... if they can come attack me and my friends in Iraq, they aren't plotting to attack innocent civillians like you. It is harder for them to find recruits when the able bodied people who hate us can run in hatred to try and kill us without thier help.

This is why I am proud to be in the Military, and why signs that say "bring our Troops home" really hurt our feelings very deeply. We are dying to protect you, please don't try and put us out of a job. This is what we are trained to do, fight. Let us go fight for you, and please PLEASE VOTE... I want this country to be a wonderful place the world loves again and for all of you to know the kind of freedom I grew up with...

Not a Fascist Republic hated by the world and stripping it's citizens of thier rights and liberties.

People that you already trust. If you have a trusting relationship with a parent or other family member, teachers, or religious leader in you community, then talk to them about it. Start reading a little bit of the history of the region and start somewhere around 1980. Compare what you read to what you are hearing from your trusted source. Someone pointed out that you will know the truth when you hear it. I wish that was true. You will know the truth when you DECIDE that it's the truth. Facts don't seem to get in the way of some people's truth as you may have noticed.

I do applaud your asking the question and wanting to learn more. If you plan on getting an answer off of here, please look at the people who are answering and look at their profiles and see what the general theme of their political leanings are. If you see nothing but vicious hatred (regardless of "party" affiliation) stay clear. Anyone who is not willing to at least hear what the other people are saying isn't worth listening to.

heck you have some nuts that claim 911 did not really happen

But in a real basic idea 911 happened, the American people were in a real upset mode, We traced the suspected terrorists ( they are dead now so I will assume they will never be convicted and always be suspected terrorist since they were not convicted)

We basicly knew which training camps they came from.

So the American public wanted Bush and Congress to do something, ( that kick some arab butt syndome)
so we declared war ( not on a county or a religion) but on a terrrorist group that has terrorist in dozens of nations

Flash back for a moment and you have Saddam that we put in power ( US put in power) he was a rebel leader agaisnt the Russian control in that area. So we armed him, we set up his training camps and we gave him money to fight the war with.
He won and took over the nation, but then he also turned against the US, and was supporting terroist bases.

So guess what, we ( the US) knew what weapons he should have, ( because we gave them to him) and we evern knew fairly well where they were and where his training camps were.
( what we did not know, we can get daily photos from space.

So here we have the American Public "demanding" that we teach someone a lesson, We know that Iraq was helping the terrorst in thier training ( since we help set it up)

So we wanted to teach Sadam a lesson for his being a trader to us, and the US public wanted to kick some middle eastern nations rear.

So we report of the terrorist groups there, about the weapons he should have and go at it.

( we did not want to invade Iran, since we did not have that good of material on them)

The only problem the weapons we knew he had ( since we gave them to him) could not be found ( of if they were found, we did not want it proved that we gave him the weapons so we destroyed them and said we never found them)

But the only bad thing, and the most stupid, for some reason they beleived the people wanted rights, and wanted to be free.
And we forgot that they have generations of culture in merely killing those that opposed you. Add to that that Iran is now sending terrorist after terrorist in and you have what we got now.

There were generals stating we would need 10,000 body bags before we took the country. Well only 2500 at this point, but all we have is physcial control, no real military control.

The US is lousy police officers in other nations, we try to work using our system of justice and it just don't work in nations that don't respect fair and equal treatment and view kindness as a weakness

This is a hard question. After all, even sources like Fox News who advertise themselves as "fair and balanced" have been proven to be incredibly slanted. (More info at http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1067 )

Maybe I can't answer your question directly, but let me suggest a few things:

1) Listen for facts, not opinions and bias. Good journalists will report from a "neutral point of view"; they won't slant the story to make you agree with them. The facts should be able to do that on their own.

2) Consider the source -- where did this information come from? Where did THEY get that information from? Is it someone who has been wrong about this stuff before?

At "Fair.org" you can learn more about specifically how corporations, pressure groups, censorship and more get in the way of the truth. You can read more about that here: http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=101

Now, whether or not you should trust "fair.org", ... that's an exercise left to the reader. :)

Do yourself a favor and trust no one here. The only thing you can do is go online look at various sources and then make up your own mind. See that is something that the Republicans don't want you to do, is find the truth.

Trust yourself!

First you have to be educated on the situation, find the facts, and then develop the truth as you see it.

It is nice, and sometimes very entertaining, to hear other opinions on events, but remember that very seldom are they backed up by facts.

Listen to all sides. In my experience, the truth lies somewhere in the middle between all the polar extremists. Listen, toss aside that which makes no sense or has been proven false, and see what you have left.
