how many teams advance from a group in the world cup?

The Cup starts with 32 teams -

First round is 8 groups of 4

Then the top 2 teams from each group advance to leave 16 teams.

Then it's single game elimination 16 down to 8 down to 4 down to 2.

So after the first round you have to win 3 games to win the world cup.
