Love is a great power,
It can make a man cower.
Love can be kind and soft,
And send a man aloft.

Love can sing,
While it can also sting.
Find your dearest,
And to each other always be nearest.

Never depart,
What you start.
For if you do,
Then your love wasn't true.

imo it's ok. Nothing spectacular. I'm not trying to be mean, it's not like I said it's total crap, cuz it's really not. It could be better. It's a little to rhymie for my tastes.

It's cute, but if you want an honest critique, here it is. It sounds really sophomoric. Like you're just trying too hard to get stuff that rhymes instead of listening to your heart. That's what poetry is all about. Pouring your heart and soul into something and making it a living diary of what you feel inside. I admit, I am not the best poet either. Some people have told me to publish and others have told me to stop writing. I won't say either to you. Just... improve your form and put more YOU into it.
