I just got some leis for my graduation and I would really like to preserve them the way they are for a long time. Does anyone know how to do it? I usually hang my flowers upside down to air dry them but their colors always change. =(

you can submerge any fresh flower in Silica pellets (you can but them in bulk at walmart- and they are re-useable.. in the craft section). Sillica will suck the water out of flowers but keep them intact. Follow the instructions on the jar of pellets and then hang your lei up where it can't be touched- they get a little fragile afterwards, like silk flowers. I use it for preserving wedding bouquets.

You have missed entirely the point of leis. They are fragile and not long lasting. The point is that you have that moment of happiness preserved in your heart and you "threw away" the height of the physicl celebration of it to preserve the spiritual.Don't preserve them. You won't like what they will look like. the picture in your memory will be better and last longer.

I hope you had pictures taken of you wearing them. Lei's are so lovely, but they have a short shelf life.

spray them with an aerosol hairspray, then hang them to dry. The hairspray for some reason will preserve them!

Go to Micheal's or any craft store that does flower arrangements and there is a product that is made specifically for that purpose.
