No, a cold is from a virus, however if your body is cold and your immune systems are down, you are more susceptible - which is where this saying came from

The Common Cold

It is partly true, in that by the body temperature dropping, the bodies natural defense and immunities become compromised, therefore the chance of catching a cold increases. But just going out without a jacket doesn't do it. You need to have contact with a virus or the germ that carries the disease to get the disease/illness.

That is crazy I hardly ever wear a jacket in the cold, I haven't gotten a cold from that yet. I think that is just what parents tell us so that we will wear a coat or jacket like they want us too

Nah. Colds are caused by viruses and bacteria. Incidentally, viruses and bacteria survive better in warm places, not cold ones. But if you already have a bug, you could inadvertently divert energy that would otherwise be used to bolster your immune system; instead it would be used to keep you warm, so wear a jacket anyway!

If you were tied to the North Pole you would not get a cold unless someone stopped by and kissed you, coughed close to you or shook your hand or gave you something to eat.

Absolutely NOT! That's an old wives tale. You get sick from introducing a virus into your body through contact with a mucuous membrane, such as nose, eyes, mouth, etc. Basically, just wash your hands frequently.
