I have addresses in my address bar and people keep saying the same thing, go to control panel and delete history and clear files etc. I do that but the same addresses are still up there. I dont want to do the autocomplete either. How do I permanently remove them. Please offer some other advice besides the same old adivce. I have also read other peoples questions but nobody is offering anything new. Please help.

To delete from search bar

Highlight(not click) the site you want to delete with your mouse...then simply hit the delete key on the keyboard.

I hope this helps

If you have already done the delete history, and the address are not going away, it is possible that what you are trying to get rid of are not the history listing but the Favorites?

If you go up and click on Favorites in the menu, is this the list you are trying to get rid of? If so, you can remove those by simply right clicking on them and selecting "delete".

For one...don't go to control panel. Go to "tools" up on your tool bar above. Then click on "internet options"...."delete files"..."delete cookies" "delete history".

Then go to "advanced" and scroll down to "Browser settings"...it should be under "enable (or disable) auto-complete.

Hope that helps.

p.s. If you are talking about your "search" bar you can simply highlight the first one then keep hitting delete until they are all removed. You will have to go from a through z to get them all.

That is the only way.

Are you suggesting that this is not working for you

Basically the address bar saves the sites you have been to for ease of use, why don't you try opening up google.com and searching for this site and clicking the link, that way the address won't be stamped in the drop down.

go under tools, then internet options. Delete cookies, and clear your history. You can also set up on that page how long places stay in your history for.
