If opened by clicking the right part of mouse, it shows a catalogue and BUF, VOB, IFO files on it. When I tried to copy files, some VOB files are not copied because of "redundancy check". I do not know also whether a film may be started after such copying and in which way.

redundancy check means it cannot read the file anymore. Is the disc damaged, does it have scratches on it?

Clean your drive and clean the disc, try again should work

Best way to copy dvds is to use clone dvd. To copy a dvd to a cd, use dvdshrink.

Go to download.com for both

Are u sure it is a CD? DVD video can only be published to a DVD disk.

You cannot do a straight copy from a licensed DVD film title. The CSS encyption turns it into gibberish anyhow.

Download ShrinkDVD and use it to backup (if you own the movie) to your computer. If the "redundancy check" appear in ShrinkDVD, the disk may have a scratch. Spread some car polish on the shiny surface, let it dry and then polish with a soft cloth or tissue. Try again.

If still can't copy the disc will have too deep a scratch or it is defective originally. GIVE UP then.

If successful use PowerDVD to view the movie on your computer.

OK, the way you copy an "non-copyrighted" DVD to CD is to first rip it to the hard drive. Use software that can convert the main *.VOB files to a single MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 file. Then you can make a VCD (MPEG-1) or SuperVCD (MPEG-2) using software that can author that format.

If you have a copyrighted disc, you shouldn't be asking!!! Especially in a public forum....

If you are copying it from the CD to DVD, then you have to have a DVD burner. I'm not sure about the compatibility part.

Good Luck

that is a VCD, not a DVD.

Use Disk Utility (mac) or Alcohol 120% (windows) to make a disk image and then burn that onto a DVD (which would be a waste of space, but hey, you asked)
