Because traditionally there are more working class people in the North and attitude is passed down from generation to genertion. They are a lot more relaxed and more inclined to say what they feel but in the South more attention is payed to social graces and manners as it is traditionally wealthier and middle/upper class, which can make the people at best polite, at worst cold.

It might be due to social and economic factors as already suggested.
However there are also genetic differences due to the legacy of the Norse invasions over 1000 years ago.
Combination of both influences I expect.
Also you should consider the possibility that you happen respond to northern women differently because you are uneducated and working class
.

I wouldn't say northern women are more feisty than southerners, I'd say they are more gobby and used to getting their own way.

because they mainly have a harder life with there men so they react accordingly personally i prefer women with a bit of attitude
