Des Cartes said: "je pense donc je suis" I think therefore I am. it's whatever you choose to believe the mind can be an overbearing weight of a past left behind or as aloof to reality that one denies. it is in the sheer powersw of the individuals will. I unfortunatly am a proisoner to my own past & don't have the knack for letting it go.

Just more than a year ago I thought so, that my past had no significance. Then I met my bestfriend and all the answers came rushing in, it was overwhelming. I learned so much from it.

Our past is exactly what it is, past. We are can not be controlled by it we are only guided by it. We control our own lives, we can make all things possible. God has given us everything we need to live our lives to the fullest but it is up to us on how to get there.

The slight, smallest fraction of a past on a surface memory make it impossible. Theoretically absence of a past makes absence of a future, for a future is a phantom of a past in human life. Now, try to imagine whats left and deliberate, would you be able to exist in that pinpoint state where past and future does not have any meaning? If you do able , then you are very close to Bliss. If not then you still heavy duty philosopher pressed by the weight of the Planet.

Of course it's possible, but ummmm, can't tell you why anyone would choose to live like that?!?!?!?!

We all have burdens to carry that came about from our past, however it is unnecessary to let them weigh down our every tomorrow, and minute in the present for that matter.

Yes, our past has significance, for it taught us how to live better today, and tomorrow, and it will continually do so if we choose to learn from our yesterdays, not live in them.

Our past is a part of us -- significant? VERY;
Does that significance utterly control my decision for tomorrow, nope.

Hope that isn't too vague.

peace.... especially if your past hasn't brought you any.

yes. Many people seem to live from day to day as if the past had no significance to them. Each day is a brand new world and has no bearing on their future.This in part explains why many people will blow their paycheck on fun and games and give bills and grocerys no thought at all. Live for the moment.

I've wondered this myself. I believe that is is possible to live MOSTLY as if our past has no effect on us, but in practice it is doesn't seem to work 100% well.

Unless you have amnesia. And even then it seems that the victims of amnesia still exhibit mannerisms and beliefs from the past they can't consciously remember.

I do think it is possible to learn to ignore some events though. Sometimes we must. And sometimes we choose to.

Yes, but sooner or later your past sneaks up behind you and bites you on the ***. After all, what is "learning" but applying significance to useful aspects of your past? Nihilism only works for the psychotic, the rest of us try not to repeat past mistakes.

background is important to me too. its because of the fact there are varieties, that we, as historians, have come to work out. like the undeniable fact that many times a super king would be succeeded by a son of lesser skill who will attempt to fill the sues of his father and could smash the dominion interior the approach. the different massive trend is going with wealth distribution, that too a lot interior the palms of too few leaves too many wanting replace. the previous, if we seem close sufficient, would not provide us the destiny, even even though it does provide us the skill to assert that we've seen circumstances like this, and in those circumstances issues went thusly, for this reason they could additionally pass thusly now if we don't do something approximately it. the previous advises us.
