My baby is on Similac Advanced w/Iron and has always had soft bowel movements and have never been solid; does this mean his digesting with no problem. He also doesn't seem to be collicy; does that mean I should continue with Similac?

if the baby is gaining weight than he is probably donig fine. If he is not I would talk to your doctor. He may be lactose intolerant, and you may have to switch him to a new formula, like soy. If he is having diarrhea everyday, he could become dehydrated. And that can become VERY DANGEROUS. I would contact your doctor just to be safe. Or which the formula and see if there is a change.

I don't know whether you should continue with Similac, but if your baby is thriving and having bowel movements, he's digesting just fine. From what I remember with our newest baby girl, solid bowel movements don't usually come until solid food.

Best of luck, and God bless you and your baby.

Just check what is coming out. If there any signs of bleeding they may have food allergies and should see a specialist. Crying after a meal and bringing their knees to their chest is a sign of a belly ache. If you are unsure just make an appointment with a colon specialist honestly one look and they can tell you if their is a problem. Nutramigen is expensive (But can be purchased on WIC with a doctors order if you need assistance) it runs 24 dollars a can

as long as he seems to be fine. you should stay with similac. It's not good to change a baby's formula all the time. From what you have wrote it seems to me like he is fine. I say stick with it....

mushy poops are fine so don't worry about that. sometimes colic can be caused by certain formulas...or i should say certain formulas can be upsetting to babies little tummy's. If your baby doesn't have any symptoms of fussiness, I don't see why you would change formulas. Before changing formulas for any reason, ask your doc.
