Hi everybody....
ummmm, I think i have a problem with weight. I get compliments on my appearance from my friends and family, but i still don't like what i see in the mirror. I am a cheerleader so my battle with weight is always there because i'm almost a foot taller than some of them and outweigh some of them by 50 or maybe 60 pounds. (I'm 5'7 and about 155lbs.) I think I look ok sometimes, but i still don't know if they are lying or not. I've considered eating disorders, but but I've never even started them because i don't want to die. I'm on a diet and exercize plan right now. It seems I'm the only one not seeing the results. Could I have distorted a body image??

Thank you

well for a woman that is as tall as you are you should weigh about 150 so i believe that you are fine just the way you are a bet that you are hot that your friends and family are not lying to you

Well, in regards to the actual weight categories, you are in the correct weight range for your height. You also have to take in account muscle mass. As a cheerleader, you might have more of this than the average woman, therefore actually being in a lower fat category, which would mean you are in a great weight range. You estimated body mass index is about 24, with the normal for your height being 18.5-24.9.
It really all goes by personal perspective. I am about your height, and 150 pounds, but I am not athletic, and can afford to lose a few pounds. For myself, 135-140 would be an ideal weight range. Lucy Lawless, for example, is 150lbs, and Cindy Crawford is about 130-140 lbs, and no one in their right mind would ever consider those woman to have a weight problem.
So I guess, as long as you are happy with your weight, are healthy and active, you should be fine. And no, you do not necessarily have a distorted body image, but acquiring an eating disorder could lead to one. Most people don't "decide" to get an eating disorder, it is more of a progression. Hence it being a "disorder". Anyhoo, try drinking lots of water, apparently very cold ice water is the best metabolic booster, and make sure you eat breakfast. And I have heard green tea can help to boost metabolism as well. Just do what works for you, and be happy you are not 200 lbs, or 100 lbs, because both would be wrong for you.
Hope this helps!

Yes, you may have a distorted body image, or body dysmorphia.
You may be looking at yourself as how you think you appear to others.
From the sounds of things, you are not overweight.
Good to hear that you're not falling into an eating disorder. That can lead down a long dark road, where you'll never be satisfied with your weight.
There's nothing wrong with diet and exercise, but try not to focus on your weight, just focus on being athletic and healthy.
As hard as it may be, don't compare your body to that of your friends. Love yourself for what you are.

Take care.

Firstly, I can understand you not wanting to be overweight being a cheerleader and all. Secondly, don't take any of those diet pills or weight loss pills as advertised on tv. If it's to good to be true, it probably isn't

As told by the link above, if you're a medium frame, you are approximately 10 pounds overweight. Try eating yogurts at the store. They're low calorie and Propel Fitness Water is good; even though it's expensive ($3 for a six pack), it tastes really good. Propel Fitness Water is flavored water.

I agree w/ Zetta Girl; you should care about how you feel, not how others portray you.

Something to consider:
On the link above, the calculator tends to overweigh guys ideal body weight and underweigh girls ideal body weight. It can be used for any age though.

I hope my advice helped out; Please choose me as the best answer.

God made you. He wanted you to be the way you are. He does not look at you and say that you are fat. He loves you. I go through the same thing. I know what you are talking about. You are not over weight. Now I think I'm over weight but you are not. Do not go on a eating disorder. That will not help you it will hurt you.

Eating disorders are not the right way to lose weight. Running to the best way too lose, but you still have to eat. just cut out fast foods, fried food, and food that have a lot of concentrated sugar in them..It is going to take time for you too notice a change.other people will see them before you do. Continue exercising. Running, sit-up, and leg lift helps to lose weight and tighten you body.NOT EATING WILL MAKE UP GAIN WEIGHT.

If you're 5'7, your weight should be around 130-140 (really 135) But maybe it's mussels, not fat. And don't worry--No one's perfect! And being too thin won't make a strong cheerleader!!!

BTW, here's a TIP (PLZ TAKE IT): Don't try to be anorexic or bulimic. TRUST ME--it doesn't work, and you'll hate yourself MORE. I really HATE saying this, but it's personal experience.
