my mom has a lot of chickens and i wanted to know if they could see colors

They have VERY distinct color preferences which farmers use by painting feeders & waterers in chicken attractive colors. Since they prefer some colors I assume this means they can see them. A easy & fun experiment to see for youself. Take some white rice and pup a few drops of food color in a spoonful & put several piles of different colors on a paper plate, see which pile one of your mothers chickens wants to eat first.

No chickens are no longer colour blind. you're able to do a small experient to instruct it to your self. in case your mom has some food colour (or you may get a left over easter egg death kit) get some undeniable white rice & blend a spoonfull with each and each distinctive colour dye & see which little pile on a plate a chicken eats first.

Yes, they can see color. In fact, all birds can see color -- which is why male birds have such colorful plumage.
