Seek counseling and talk it out.... Don't let the past get you down, let go of all of that... Live your life in the present and think positive. Seek your inner strength and learn to be happy. Consider taking some self-defense classes, this may help you gain some confidence in protecting yourself if the need ever arises again. Good Luck!

When you start to have a flashback, try to start singing. It will change your thought patterns.
If that does not work, try exercising - even just jumping jacks. It will help.
If you consistently have nightmares, about anything, you may be having a low blood sugar episode during the night. Check out www.hufa.com for hints on what to eat before going to bed to avoid nightmares of all sorts.

Sweetie, get some professional help. The best way to exorcise the demons is to talk about them. You need an objective ear. Also, I want to tell you that men aren't all bad, and there are many more good ones than bad ones. I had some lousy ones in my life, and I finally have a great one. Hang in there.

that's normal. it takes longer for the lower levels of the mind to work through issues than the upper part where we do normal stuff like get up and go to work.
it's a good sign because it means you are working it out, not having it bottled up and festering.
ultimately, with or without professional advice, you will reach a point where you can say that you have faced the distress.
it won't ever totally completely go away, but you will find you can say "no, I am not going to let that rubbish ruin my day."

First of all you need to talk to your current man about your situation. I have been abused myself; not all men are like the last!
