Not all LCD TV's are HD. They will usually say whether or not they are HD in advertisements on @ the store. One thing to look at is the resolution. In the US, HD resolutions are typically 720p or 1080i. 720p has a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, and 1080i is 1920x1080 pixels. If the screen resolution is not that high (less than 1280x720), then it is NOT an HD monitor.
If you are going to get an Xbox360, then please get a true HD monitor/TV. It will not be worth buying a 360 if you don't have an HD montior.

LCD means that the picture is display using liquid crystals, not light dots (pixels) like older monitors. It does NOT mean HD. You will need to check the specs for the monitor to see if it says HD.

Make sure the monitor says HD on the box or the front because there are LCD monitors which are not HD compatiable.

Not true.
If its HD it will be a minimum of £400 first of all the other thing is will say on the box, as HD is the newest thing if its not obvious the tv has it, it wont have it.
Just because its an LCD it wont be High Def.

"If its LCD doest that mean its HD?"
No it doesn't. In HD there's more pixels per Sq. inch. Sorry I can't get more detailed than that. But that much I know. I'm only answering in part.

no
LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display , that is a kind of hardware for displaying pixels that make up the words and pictures on a screen
HD stands for High Definition , that is a screen with high resolution, very fine pixels, a very clear picture
You can have very low resolution LCD screens like the black and grey, two color, low resolution screen on my cheap watch.
