Star Wars fans: What are the top 5 things you would change about Episode 1 The Phantom Menace?

2. Make the whole thing less Jar-Jar centred
3. Spend more time on the Queen's character than dresses
4. More about Darth Maul? More interesting that way
5. keep the special effects at a certain golden mean, not too many but not too little either.

Honestly, if Lucas really wanted to keep things consistent, which he can't, then make the movies blurry and hazy like the original episodes, with little blocks around the vehicles as they fly through space...

What happened in the events between Ep. 1 and Ep. 4 that made the vehicles of the galaxy so crappy? Technology went so backwards during the empire? Plus, what happened to the hair style?

But seriously, my answers:

1. Can't get ride of Jar Jar, we wouldn't have anyone to hate without him. Just reduce his role and change the accent.

2. Mace Windu should have hair. If these are prequel to the original, then he has to have a big 1970's fro, all super fluffed.

3. Ditch Natalie Portman and put in Angelina Jolie, the galaxy needs a dirty queen...

4. No shiny vehicles of Naboo, we need clunkers like the Falcon. The vehicles should have been all beaten up with dents and dings and rust spots on the wings.

5. Darth Maul should have been played by Shaquile O'Neil. Who's afraid of a little toad with a red face? Shaquile on the other hand, meet him in a dark alley and oooooooooof... lights out.

Contrary to popular belief, Jar Jar Binks isn't that bad of a character. Just like in the world today, there are those who are annoying fools that still have a purpose in life. And like the Ewoks shown in EP6, not everything is dark, there are the occasional "cute" things. Maul should have been better developed. Expanded Universe is great but even Dooku (although sparingly) is given a bit of insight into his background.

I used to wonder where the story went for Star Wars. Not any more. It ended up on the cutting room floor...same place his ego should have been left.
After watching the Clone Wars...there really is no reason to whine. Now that is storytelling extraordinaire. And a real Mace Windham. Not that comic book wheezing, arthritic, clubfooted approximation of an imitation Jedi I saw in the movie. Yuck!!!
