The National Debt also went up under Clinton.
Besides that when ya look at all the different positions that exist in the Govt you cannot blame the President for everything but I swear considering how a lot of ignorant people are I think we should consider having a King and Prime Minister.

How can they get away with this? By diverting our attention away from the fact that our economy is being run like some 3rd world banana republic to important "moral" issues like gay marriage.
The thing that really gets me is that they sell themselves as moral leaders when the most important moral issue of our day involves reconstructing our economy such that it is sustainable for future generations.
Who gives a sh1t about gay marriage because not too far in the future we will hit peak oil (10-15 yrs), our healthcare system will collapse (costs going up 2.5X our ability to pay for them) and foreign investment will be withdrawn, plunging us into a depression?
At least the Bush and Cheney households will be provided for considering the fact that oil prices have skyrocketed since the war and Halliburton grabs outrageously inflated government contracts. They can all move to China while we clean up their mess.

There is something overlooked by many nations and many of the citizens of America when considering their ludicrous spending, especially considering the money given to the war.
America is the last juggernaut the West has to defend itself. It has been that way since after WW2 when Europe could not afford to rebuild its military might with the reconstruction effort going on.
They spend billions of dollars on the war - borrowed from China that your grandchildren's children will be paying off - because the West is becoming complacent in its peace. Meanwhile Russia's military is losing manpower while compensating with new US technologies, and China is consistently building their military with the obvious intent of hegemony from the Ukraine to Japan.
Meanwhile, who's standing up to them with things other than diplomacy? No one. And we all know that diplomacy only works when the two partners are fully willing. Why would people who would gain from the fall of America and Europe possibly commit themselves to a diplomatic treaty if only to keep America in its place while they build their arms.
Europe is not part of Russia today because of the United States. Much of Asia is not under the control of China because of the United States.
Now, though, we only have one military power and that -one- military power is calling all the shots - even the stupid ones. There's no one to challenge America for giving arms and weapons technologies to their greatest threats.
It is time for all countries of the Western Hemisphere to build up their militaries appropriately. America is taking far too much of the burden and they are cracking under it while we enjoy the peace that will only last as long as America's military superiority.

When Clinton was in office, he managed to reduce the debt from 5.7 trillion to about 5.3 trillion. Then along came Bush who increased it to what it is today - close to 8.4 trillion. http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/
The main reason for this appears to be spending on the War of Aggression on Iraq - a war that the United Nations consider to be illegal and should not have started. It is simply a war of expansion - capturing and controlling other people's land. America is not known to be "protective" of other countries. It is expansionist, unlike China.
To find out the truth about what's going on in this war, instead of the propaganda that is spread through American media, read: http://www.uruknet.info/?p=-6

Free trade agreement. It's one sided. All that money is leaving the country and it's not comming back. You aint seen nothing yet. The ripple is only starting as hundreds of businesses are going under every day. Sell imports so cheap that the American counterpart can't compete and when they go under then jack the prices back up.

I think what really gets me is that the Republicans blame the Democrats for this. However Clinton was the only president in US history to ever balance the budget, and lower the deficit.

No good bleating about it - the majority of you Americans voted for a Republican government. Now you have to wait until their term is up and do something about it. But like most countries when it comes to voting, the turn out is low and memories are short.

Maybe Bill Gates should donate some of his $26 BILLION to the cause. How can one man acumulate so much wealth? Share the wealth my friend.
Don't worry, once we take over Iran and start getting a percentage of the oil sales from Iraq they will start paying it off....

They have a really, really good credit card.
And don't worry. With as much money as you Demo's claim he is stealing in oil money, I'm sure he'll just pay it off with some pocket money the day before he leaves office. Or maybe he and Cheney will ro-sham-bo to see who pays.
