Everytime I try to run scan my computer gives me an error and won't let me run it. What is wrong and what should I do?

If you have your XP CD, put it in the drive...
When it autoruns, just cancel the window.
Goto Start > Run, and type this exactly:
sfc /scannow
remember the space after sfc!!
When done, try scandisk again.

Do you know how to boot up in safe mode? Press F8 upon boot up to safe mode, then try scan disk.
