1. Why do we allow a single President, of his own will, to send our young men and women off to dubious wars?
2. Why do we allow priests to diddle with our own children sexually, and still support the Church by attending and paying weekly contributions?
3. Why do we support the ridiculous lifestyles of celebrities by paying them millions of dollars just because they are attractive-looking?
4. Why do we then CARE about their newborn babies, born in some country like Namibia.? Is Namibia some special place?
5.Why do we put such people on TOP, and pay them our hard-earned money to fantasize as if we were like them?
6. Why do we worship people, like the above, and like sports athletic stars, and not worship GOD, who alone is worthy of worship?
7. Why do we trust doctors? Have you ever had a doctor who lived in YOUR BODY, and knew from the inside-out, how YOU FEEL?
8. Why don't we start caring about OURSELVES, for a change,
and about and for those immediately in our own lives?

1. The President does not send troops of his own free will. The Congress and the Senate have to vote if troops can be sent. The Congress, Senate, and President are all elected by the people. The people in the military are all volunteers. If you're referring to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, it is not dubious. If we do not destroy the terrorists over seas, we will have repeats of 9-11-2001.
2. Incidents of child molestation not only occur in churches (and the vast majority of Roman Catholic Priests haven't done such acts). People who molest children have also been base ball coaches, teachers, doctors, policemen, and come from every walk of life. Even celebrities like Gary Glitter, Michael Jackson, and Jeff "Frugal Gormet" Smith have had allegations of molesting kids made about them. There have also been incidents of molestations in Protestant churches as well. It happens in every country, including non-Christian one.
3. Because they are fun to watch. No one wants to watch boring, ordinary, ugly looking people that don't do anything interesting. In theroy, everyone should be Mother Teresas and give all their money to the poor...but we're not Mother Teresas.
4. Because everyone loves babies. I love mine. When it's a Brad Pitt's & Angalina Jolie's baby, everyone want to see it. She definitely has mom's lips, btw! Besides, the pictures raised 4 million dollars for charity. That should give you one less thing to condemn humanity for. Yes, Namibia is a special place.
5. See answer to # 2.
6. I worship God. I'm sure there are sports fans that worship God too. As for sports fans that don't believe in God, it isn't realisitic to expect everyone to be religious.
7. I trust a doctor because he has had 8 years of training. When I'm sick I go the doctor and I get better, therefore I surmise I can trust them from past results.
8. What makes you think we don't? I know I do.

i understand where you are coming from, but nobody here is spider man. and we are not allowing priests to diddle with our own children sexually, and still support the Church by attending and paying weekly contributions. at least not every body. its like you are accusing us of how bad the world is. if that is the case, why don't we ask god why he is allowing this. plus, the celebrity stuff, its just entertainment. its not that we worship them. imagine how boring our lives would have been without entertainment. i wish the world was a better place too. and yes i would try to change it. but i am no spider man. the least you or i can do is be a better person. But we cannot just change the world.

You'd be surprised how many people to agree to your list. I know where Namibia is and I STILL don't care about his/her parents. But you have to remember, not everyone has a full and rewarding life. They look to others to bring interest into their existence. And sometimes, they just don't have a choice. A doofus president involved us in a war so we could get more oil? Well, he was "duly elected" so the only choice we have is to work at getting someone else in the office. A priest molested a child? That doesn't change people's belief in God, they just are forced to admit that priests are people too (teachers molest their students, but that doesn't mean we should close down all the schools, now does it?) You have to make choices in life. I prefer to live in the real world and not one based on other people's perception of reality (did Wayne Gretsky's wife gamble or didn't she? WHO CARES ????????) But then some people think I'm strange. You don't though, right? RIGHT?????

In part because we live in a capitalistic country and if you satisfy the people with money and pleasure, they tend not to care or get involved because may think that if they challenge the system, they will be cut-off and left an outsider. The corrupt US government as you described also preys on the ignorant while hiding behind the mask of Christianity. Pitiful indeed!

1. Brainwashed to always believe in the government, it can do no wrong.
2. Brainwashed by the church
3. We like to be entertained, the entertainment industrusty is huge everyone watches tv that's why celebrities make so much. 4 It's silly I don't know why people are interested in celebrity babies, never caught my interest! and why do they give them such exotic names, like they're so special their child has to be named something noone else has ever heard of!
5. I guess because we like them or their personality and they enchant us
6. They are real people you can follow the lives of whose existence is obvious...But to me so is gods.
7. Sometimes we need hope, I don't know why people display so much faith in doctors, I personally don't believe in them when it comes to psychiatric issues, they just want to use drugs and never good therapy or a real shrink...Maybe they're good for physical health but I honestly believe god can heal me.
8. I don't know...some people do.

Oh, I thought this thread was about sleeping WITH sheep! I'd like to think the President is acting with the will of the people who elected him, bringing justice to those who seek to harm the U.S. and liberty to those enslaved under harsh dictatorships. The only way to get the lives of celebrities out of the public view is if we all stop paying attention to them. But then you'd have to get everyone who is complaining about the president to turn off American Idol and pay attention to popular politics, think critically, and vote.

Because "you" (the sheep) are not disturbed in your sleep so long as all this happens Not In Your Back Yard (or pasture).
Ignorance is fear, and many people are so ignorant as to be so afraid as to vote for Bush! Twice!
Your great rebel Jim Morrison said it many years ago: "You're all a bunch of slaves!" Now *that* was a person worthy of worship.
