NUBAIN is a potent analgesic. Its analgesic potency is essentially equivalent to that of morphine on a milligram basis. Its onset of action occurs within 2 to 3 minutes Its onset of action occurs within 2 to 3 minutes after intravenous administration, and in less than 15 minutes following subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

NUBAIN (nalbuphine hydrochloride) is indicated for the relief of moderate to severe pain. NUBAIN can also be used as a supplement to balanced anesthesia, for preoperative and postoperative analgesia, and for obstetrical analgesia during labor and delivery.

My doctor ordered Nubain for me when I was in labor. It's only effective during early labor and it takes the edge off pain. I was administered Nubain intravenously. It took effect immediately after the the IV drip was started (approx. 2 minutes). It made me feel out of it, like I had no care in the world. I wason cloud 9. That was a comforting feeling during labor, LOL. I was able to catch a few "Z's," too. I highly recommend Nubain.

It's a pain med. They give it in a shot form, through the iv. I have had it with three of my kids. to be honest it didn't really help with the pain it made me mentally relax so i could control myself, and get a grip. It kinda made me feel high. It doesn't seem to last that long. maybe about 30 min.

Nubain is a synthetic substitute for Demerol, and when I was a practicing LVN, Nubain was not a controlled substance, although it SHB. Apparently, the risks of dependency were not as great as the so-called "controlled substances", such as Morphine, Demerol, or Talwin, et al. It is usually injected IM(intra-muscular).
