Why do people lie?

Do you thinks lying is okay sometimes or people should NEVER lie. What lies are acceptable?

Mainly people lie because they don't want to face the consequences of the truth.
I think lying, in general, is wrong. However, in some cases, such as where someones feelings are saved by telling a small lie, it is acceptable.

There are different reasons why people lie. It is never good to lie because there is always a chance that you may get caught in your lie and you lose the trust of the people you lied too.

A compulsive liar is somebody who is insecure about them self they make up stories or lies because they think it makes them more attractive, or interesting. When in fact to me those types of people get on my nerves.

Then there is the guilty person. This person will never fess up to their mistakes or take responsibility for their actions. So they lie their way out of any bad situations.

The acceptable lie is the white lie. This lie is okay to use if the truth will hurt the other person. Use your white lies wisely and use good judgment. Sometimes a white lie can back fire, and may end up hurting the person in the long run anyways.

I don't like people lying to be, and I am not a liar. I don't like the chance of getting caught because it don't like to hurt people.

Lying is a self defence and always have a reason. It may not beunderstood by the person you lied too but it has strong reason under neath. If you look at the bible , GOD simply says don't lie But many parents tell thier children stories of Santa CLauss and so on concidering that is fairy story but it in deeds is a lie. WHile lie can be decieving, there are many good exmaples when it was worth a lot. Some ppl just won't be understanding the truth no matter how hard they want. Look at the religions. ONe false, One right, 270 Cristian denomination, 1700 sub-divisions , Pagans and so on. Obviously some is lying . FOr many ppl truth is geograhical and depends on your own point of view, what is true for you may be obious lie to others.
And in reality who needs the truth? Truth is good only when it does not concern you. Otherwise we prefer to hear what we want to hear.

Mostly people lie for the kicks of it, when they get away with it, it becomes addictive. Answer your own question, if it is OK with you for somebody to tell a white lie and nobody gets hurt, then that is what is acceptable for you. Unfortunately people are unique and everybody has a unique opinion. My personal opinion, I lie sometimes, white lies and bad ones too, but so did other people do to me, should I do unto them what I do not want them to do to me........? I do not think so, because the time I was lied to and realised it, made me feel betrayed and a lesser person because the other person could not trust me with the truth.

There many reason people lie.For eg,some people lie because they dont want to face up to things.They are embarrassed of something and so they lie to cover it up.Some people lie because they dont want to hurt their love ones.They feel that it is better that their love ones are kept in the dark.Some people lie to protect.And some people lie basically to save themselve from trouble.This goes to the criminals convicted.Some people lie to entertain.They make up stories or even change the ending of the story so that their grandchildren will be happy and go to sleep.And some people lie to hurt or to aroused the feelings of a typical human being like anger and jealousy.Well,for whatever reasons these people have for lying,a secret is always behind it all.To me,white lies are the most acceptable because behind the lie,is a reasonable reason for the existance of the lie.

Everyone lies about something even you... but I think the type that can ruin someone career, friendship, relationship etc... aren't acceptable as thats just pure jealousy. Also lying to the law when having killed or hurt an innocent person isn't acceptable either. It just depends on what you class as a bad lie

no lies are acceptable, if you tell a lie someone is always going to find out plus, that just betrays the persons trust that your lying to, why go through all the hurt and heartbreak for one little lie? not me im sticking to the truth

they lie because they want to get away with somethin.......lying is ok sometimes.......the lies that r acceptable r like 4 example: when your friend asks u if shes pretty and shes not.....when u dont wanna hurt someones feelings

every human being lies in some way or another, whether its a small lie or a big one
some people lie to keep you happy or just to shut you up, e.g. i ask my friend if my bum looked FLAT in the new jens i was wearing, she answered no!!!
shes a liar, i knew damn well i looked like i didnt have a bum

People lie becauce they can't handle the truth & their egos might get hurt if they tell the truth. If someone is constantly lying to you get rid of them life's too short to be with untruthful people.
