There should be a "plate" on your boat that gives you person and "lbs" capacity. Usually located on the rear of the boat near the motor or next to the controls, each boat is different and could change if you change your motor size/make

i agree with larry but also,,,,,safety depends on the operator. 6 or 7 people would be no problem under most circumstances for a 22ft. boat. but would you do this in 6ft. seas? the placard on the transom is a recomendation [a very conservative one] but a good place to start.
