I am of course talking about higher education. I discovered this when I was considering Sweden for advanced studies in psycology. My source was the exchange student worker and I confirmed with research in the library and discussion with my advisor who is the head of social services department. Sweden will even educate anyone in the world, their is one criteria, you must have a sponsor to insure that you can support yourself. Education as well as health care should be right, not a privilege. And please, do not argue about financial aid, it requires an extreme amount of paperwork and work to obtain. Half of my school time is spent trying to obtain aid. Being disabled and living on my disability makes me the poorest of the poor. I have worked my whole life and due to disability had to be retrained. The financial aid requirements were such that I could not maintain my studies and attend to financial aid requirements.

Here is the problem with free anything: TANSTAAFL. There Ain't No Such Thing As A Free Lunch. Someone pays, or someone wants to be paid. And, in the case of doctors, they usually want to be paid quite a bit. Does anyone really think the majority of people wanting to be a doctor do so to help people? Yes, there may be a few exceptions, but most pick that vocation for monetary considerations. Also, you get what you pay for. What would the quality of free health care or education be? Yes, again, there would be some who would strive to do their jobs well, but I would argue it is a small percentage.

Of course the education is free in the USA but only upto 12th grade. And I do see a point in not making the college education free. By making the student pay himself for college education we are making sure he/she becomes more responsible. An adult with no responsiblity is the worst crime that we can do as a society to the youth. Also remember a student has opportunity to make money by working 10hrs/20hrs per week. In many parts of the world even a well qualified college educated person finds it difficult to find a job for survival.

Not sure what you're talking about. Education is free in the USA up to grade 12. If you want to go to college or university, you pay, but certainly the first twelve years are free.

Public education is free in this country. Just until the 12th grade but it is still free. And guess what, if your really smart (or black and know how to throw a basketball), you can go to college on scolarships so that is free also.
